Visiting Ireland -the Midlands: Athlone - Sirana SPA at the Sheraton... a wonderful experience

Today – as it is my birthday dear reader – I treated myself to a day in sirana SPA in Athlone. Being kinda local I was there a few times before and decided to share my wonderful experience with you.

When you come into the reception already the wonderful smell of different aromatherapy is welcoming you; aside from the friendly staff of course. Today they had a citrusy note which I loved a lot, it smelled airy and like summer. You will be then guided into a very spacious dressing room where you even can have a Rainforest shower afterwards if you wish.

The whole establishment is warm and welcoming in natural earthy colours. If you are familiar with Stephen Pearse Pottery you will recognize the artwork he has done especially for this SPA.

After that I have spent some time in the TEPIDARIUM which has a seated bench and again aromatherapy smells are everywhere so you can dive into relaxation with all your senses. The TEPIDARIUM has a water feature which is not overwhelming also the music is quite dimmed and not disturbing. Perfect to unwind and get yourself into the mood for just … nothing but being pampered.

Then you will be picked up and guided to your room for the relevant treatment. Also here – friendly and professional staff that respects and understands your need for relaxation and does not chatter without point and comma as you might be used to by different hairdressers. I personally detest this…

After the treatment you can stay in the relaxation room for as long as you want. There are different magazines provided, fresh fruits and water – as much as you like. The beds are spacious and you can set the base according to whatever is comfortable to you. The top and bottom half can be adjusted separately so depending if you want to rest or actually read a magazine…. Just as you wish.

All in all I always have very pleasant memories and can only recommend it. IF you are in Ireland and travel the Midlands (i.e. Clonmacnoise or if you do a boat trip on the Shannon) the sirana SPA is definitively worthwhile J
